World Malaria Day-Malaria treatments and Prevention methods

WHO is working with 25 countries of the world, among them were three African countries in the elimination of malaria initiative. The key aim is to scale up efforts to achieve elimination within the next few years.

. They were selected based on an analysis that looked at the likelihood of elimination across 3 key criteria: 1) trends in malaria case incidence between 2000 and 2016; 2) declared malaria objectives of affected countries; and 3) informed opinions of WHO experts in the field.

Three of these countries from Africa are Botswana, Eswatini and South Africa. The 25 countries were included in the earlier WHO’s E-2020 initiative too, but anti-malaria efforts were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
